NSW Premier Chris Minns says Archibald by ALAND is an “exciting” development that will change the image and economic fortunes of Gosford, the capital city of the Central Coast.

The $375 million mixed-use project created hundreds of local jobs during construction and would employ a further 200 people when the new voco® Gosford hotel opens next year, he said.

Mr Minns attended a topping out ceremony on September 2 to mark the end of the major construction phase at Archibald, the most important apartment and hotel development in Gosford for several decades.

“Congratulations to ALAND,” he said. “This is such an exciting addition to the skyline in Gosford. Thank you to ALAND for pushing through with this project. These are not easy things to get over the line.”

The Premier joined local business leaders, civic officials and Ms Liesl Tesch, MLA for Gosford, on level 23 of Archibald’s West Tower, marvelling at the panoramic views over Brisbane Water.

“We embrace developers that build high-quality establishments like this one,” he said. “Hopefully this is not the last topping out ceremony [in Gosford], but just the beginning.”

Named after Archibald Acheson, the second Earl of Gosford, the development includes 327 residential apartments, a 130-room voco® hotel and six hospitality venues, including the Central Coast’s highest rooftop bar, a ground floor hotel and a pizzeria and pasta bar.

Located in downtown Gosford the Archibald precinct showcases cutting-edge architecture, bold contemporary interiors and premium finishes, setting a new standard for apartment living on the Coast.

Archibald by ALAND was named Australia’s Best Mixed-Use Development at the 2024 Asia Pacific Property Awards.

ALAND Founder and Owner Andrew Hrsto says the building’s distinctive curved façade was inspired by the white sails often seen on nearby Brisbane Water, a magnet for water sport enthusiasts of all types.

“We wanted to capture the energy and natural beauty of the Central Coast,” he said.

“The public spaces, apartments and guest rooms also channel that relaxed, coastal lifestyle vibe but with a splash of European sophistication.”

Apart from apartments, the voco® Gosford and ground floor pub, the Archibald Precinct also features a swimming-pool with swim-up bar on the podium level and a Grand Ballroom and rooftop bar on level 28.

The F&B venues, which include a signature restaurant on level 5, are being curated by renowned Sydney chef Dany Karam.

Mr Hrsto says the precinct will not only bring new life (and employment) to Gosford’s downtown area, but also help to reposition the city as the state’s newest tourist and conference destination.

“There is nothing like this in Gosford,” he says.

“voco® Gosford will appeal to Sydneysiders looking for a short break, the corporate and conference market and general travellers who want to explore the Central Coast.”

Buyer demand for apartments has been intense since Archibald was first released to the public in early 2023, with 97% of the apartments already sold.

ALAND CEO George Tadrosse says the Archibald Precinct will do more than just transform the nighttime economy of Gosford, helping to reposition the city as a major new tourism and conference destination.

“Gosford has so much to offer the visitor, such nearby Brisbane Water, magnificent national parks and a string of beautiful beaches,” he said.

“Being located between Sydney and Newcastle, Gosford is also very accessible for both domestic and international visitors.”

Mr Tadrosse says that the Archibald Precinct complements other major developments, such as the new $63.8m University of Newcastle campus, that are helping to revive the local Gosford economy.

“The new bars and restaurants are going to bring locals back into the city, while the conference facilities and grand ballroom will provide a venue for events that Gosford has never been able to host before,” he said.

Once it is up-and-running voco® Gosford will employ in excess of 200 people, creating exciting new opportunities for local people who want to pursue a career in catering, hospitality or event management.

“This is the beginning a great new chapter for Gosford,” said Mr Tadrosse.
