Construction begins on Western Sydney mega-project set to deliver 1700 homes
The final stage of a masterplanned, $870 million residential community by Western Sydney developer ALAND is underway, set to deliver more than 1700 homes.
The multi-stage development at Manchester Drive, Schofields launched in 2019, and has generated 3300 jobs.
ALAND Founder and chief executive Andrew Hrsto said the start of construction represented the “culmination of years of planning, investment and collaboration”.
“Today marks a major milestone for our team and everyone who has contributed to bringing this community to life,” he said.
“From the first stage through to the final release, our focus has been on delivering a high-quality neighbourhood that provides residents with housing choice, amenity and a strong sense of community.”
Once completed, Schofield Gardens will feature communal green spaces and housing in proximity to Schofields Village shopping centre, Schofields Train stations, Norwest and Sydney Business Park employment areas.
ALAND confirmed the $870 million dollar project is nearly sold-out, while earlier stages have already been awarded the Best Mid-Rise Development by the Urban Taskforce, Best Residential Development by the Asia Pacific Property Awards and recognised for its Green Excellence by Canstar Blue.
Before the sod turning on Monday to coincide with a start to construction, Planning Minister Paul Scully said the project was part of a plan to accelerate housing delivery across Sydney.
