Gladstone Village Wins Prestigious Design Award

ALAND is delighted to announce that The Gladstone Village, its $300 million project in Merrylands, been named the Masterplanned Development of the Year.

The announcement was made at the 2024 Urban Taskforce Development Excellence Awards in Sydney on June 27.

Stage 1 of The Gladstone Village, known as Quartz, has proved extremely popular with buyers – 99% of the 363 apartments were sold prior to its completion in April this year.

Quartz offers a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments along with a lively ground floor retail precinct, an outdoor swimming pool, communal gardens and a barbecue area.

Judges were impressed by range of amenities included in The Gladstone Village, plus its forward-looking environment features such as the use of cross-ventilation in the apartments.

Chair of the judging panel Chis Johnson AM says The Gladstone Village makes excellent use of its location between Merrylands bus station and the Stockland shopping centre.

“This Merrylands project is the first stage of a master planned development, and it includes 363 apartments with 99% of them sold by the time of the building completion,” he said.

“The apartments achieve a 5.0 NATHERS rating and 67% have cross ventilation. The site is close to Merrylands station and also includes a rooftop pool, BBQs and a vegetable garden on the roof.”

Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NATHERS) is an Australia-wide energy rating system that evaluates thermal performance in residential developments.

ALAND Founder and Owner Andrew Hrsto believes The Gladstone Village masterplan, which includes two more stages, will help to transform Merrylands, delivering many benefits for the wider community.

“The Gladstone Village is designed to create a vibrant neighbourhood, fostering community growth and providing new opportunities for both business and social interaction,” he said

“With the inclusion of roads and cycleways, improved walkable connections and bustling streetscapes, The Gladstone Village will become a dynamic public space for people of all ages.

“This precinct will also feature 4,300sqm of retail space and over an acre of parkland and civic spaces, including the largest public park in the Merrylands town centre.”
