Am I eligible?

To qualify for the First Home Guarantee, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • An Australian citizen
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Meet the income threshold for singles or couples
  • Have at least 5% deposit in genuine savings
  • Be a first home buyer
  • Are owner-occupiers

From 1 July 2023, the program will also be open to permanent residents and anyone who has not owned a property for 10 years.

Can I buy with a partner, friend or relative?

Yes – and buying a first home with a spouse, partner, friend or family member can boost your buying power.

From 1 July 2023 the First Home Guarantee eligibility criteria will include:

  • Married or de facto Couples
  • A person buying with friends, natural/adoptive parents, single legal guardian or siblings

Plus – the $10,000 First Home Buyer Grant

The $10,000 First Home Owner Grant can be yours when you buy or build a new home – including an off the plan apartment, up to a value of $600,000. Even better, you can apply for the $10,000 FHOG on top of the 5% First Home Guarantee.

Even more – save up to $31,090 on stamp duty saving

As a first home buyer you pay ZERO stamp duty even if you buy with the First Home Guarantee.

From 1 July 2023, the First Home Buyer Assistance scheme lets you pay zero stamp duty when you buy a first home valued up to $800,000. That’s an instant saving of up to $31,090 on your first home.
